Delete Your Data

Your notes live on your devices and in your own iCloud Drive, so you can delete any of it yourself. Here is how, piece by piece.

Deleting is final

Strawberry Notes has no trash. A deleted note is gone from every device synced through iCloud. The only way back is an earlier backup you exported, restored with Import Backup.

Notes and folders

  1. In your library, press and hold a note or folder, then tap Delete. Or, inside a note, tap ⋯ and choose Delete This Note.
  2. Confirm with Delete.

Deleting a note also deletes its subnotes and everything inside it, including images, PDFs, and other attachments. To delete several at once, use Select in the library and tap the trash button.

Flashcard decks and cards

  1. To delete a deck, open the Flashcards tab, press and hold the deck, and tap Delete.
  2. To delete a single card, open the deck with Edit Deck and clear everything on that card's page.

A deleted card's review history goes with it.

AI chats

  1. Open the AI panel in a note and tap the chat title to open Chat history.
  2. Swipe the chat and tap Delete, or press and hold it and tap Delete….

Chats are stored per note, on your devices and in your iCloud. Deleting a chat removes it everywhere it syncs.

Things you published

  1. In your library, tap ⋯ and choose My Submissions.
  2. Tap Unpublish on a public item, or Withdraw on one still waiting for review.

The item is removed from the community gallery and from our storage. Copies other people already added to their notes stay with them.

AI permission and your OpenRouter key

  • To stop sharing with AI providers, open Settings (tap the Strawberry Notes name at the top of the sidebar), go to AI Assistant, and tap Withdraw Permission. AI stays off until you allow it again.
  • If you use your own OpenRouter key, open the AI panel, tap ⋯, choose OpenRouter key, and tap Remove key. The key was only ever stored on your device.

Your iCloud copy

  1. To stop syncing, open Settings in Strawberry Notes, go to Sync, and turn off iCloud Sync. This deletes nothing: your notes stay on the device and in iCloud.
  2. To delete the iCloud copy, open the iPad or iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, manage your storage, choose Strawberry Notes, and delete its data. Apple's exact labels vary by iOS version.

Deleting the iCloud copy removes it from every device that syncs with that Apple ID.

Backups

Backups you made with Export All Notes are files you saved yourself, for example in the Files app. Delete them wherever you saved them.

Deleting everything

There is no single erase button. To remove everything:

  1. Delete the iCloud copy, as described above.
  2. Delete the Strawberry Notes app from each iPad and iPhone.
  3. Delete any backup files you exported.
  4. If you have an account, delete your account.
